Museum of Glass

International Center for Contemporary Art

Tacoma, Washington

In association with Arthur Erickson Consulting and Nick Milkovich Architects (NMA), TCF Architecture collaborated on the design development, construction document and permitting phases for the new Museum of Glass as well as full time contract administration during construction.

The museum is designed to provide a variety of services. As a museum there are exhibition and gallery spaces to house its own permanent collection and traveling exhibits. As an educational center it provides the public an opportunity to watch glass being made in the museum's working hot shops. For students, there is a degree program established in conjunction with the University of Washington, Tacoma under the direction of a Master Artist-In-Residence. Finally, it serves as a research center for artists, students and academics specializing in glass art.

TCF Architecture provided sign design, code and zoning analysis of the museum's design, acted as a liaison between the various permitting agencies and the Museum of Glass board, provided architectural management and production services, quality control review for the team, and administered the construction process.
