Peninsula School District purchased an existing community center — a Boys and Girls Club constructed in 2009 — to renovate for school use.

The club’s layout provided a great starting point, with existing spaces programmed for classrooms, a commons with a kitchen, a gymnasium, and an administrative area.

The project added a large two-story addition that sits perpendicular to the existing wing, adding more classrooms, shared learning spaces, a performance platform that opens onto the gym, library, and a new admin office. STEAM-focused curriculum inspired the interiors, where neutral tones and materials set the stage for accent colors inspired by nature, science, mathematics, and art. Vibrant punches accentuate pockets of space where shared learning is encouraged and curiosity sparked.
